After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico where he earned his B.A. in Theater, Tony Valdes worked for fourteen years in Puerto Rico as a freelance makeup artist for numerous theatrical productions and for Telemundo Network. Tony then moved to New York City and studied at the Bob Kelly Studios. In 1999 he moved to Los Angeles to continue his studies in both film and Special FX makeup.
Tony has worked as a professional makeup artist at CNN Spanish Edition, as the senior Makeup Artist for Wayne Foster Entertainment, for fashion photo shoots for Sears Roebuck, and by providing his expertise for a large number of music videos and independent films. Tony also served as a makeup artist for numerous award shows, including The Academy Awards, The Emmy's and the Grammy’s.
In addition to his vast freelance work as both a makeup artist and hairdresser, Tony was the Director of Education and then Dean of Academics of EI School of Professional Makeup in Hollywood, CA, where he managed teacher training, curriculum revision, and also taught all areas of professional makeup, from the basics of beauty, film, and television, to Special FX and hair styling and wig styling for 20 years.
Actually, he is the owner of Tombola Stage Hair & Makeup where he offers wig styling classes and supplies as an individual wig styling master.
